Fabric Notebook Covers

With thoughts of my busiest months being just around the corner i've begun trying to stock up my shop and this week i've been working on notebook covers...

Fabric Notebook Covers

All of my covers feature original Free Spirit Designs fabrics. Pets are always a popular choice so i've included two cat designs and some pink flying pugs (you don't see them everyday! :))

Also new is a cover featuring my Garden Peas design - perfect for a garden journal.

As you can see i offer the option to have your cover personalised.

They also come complete with a recycled paper notebook,

which of course can easily be replaced once it runs out.

The other designs currently available are 'Island Escape' and Butterfly Meadow'

and i'd be happy to make up a cover featuring any of my other designs as long as i have the fabric in stock. I'm also very happy to make them in sizes other than A5, just get in touch and let me know what you're after.

The price for a cover, including notebook is £8.99, or £11.99 if you would like it personalised - they are available now from my Etsy shop.

Dog Blankets And Cats Blankets For Handmade Monday

The last things i had a chance to make before the chaos of moving house took over my life were the first in new range of pet blankets and this week i've finally been able to get them listed for sale! As always, i look forward to hearing your thoughts :)

BTW... What do you think of the price? I know its not cheap but it reflects the cost of the materials i've used... i'm just wondering if, as a potential customer, you would feel its worth it. Your feedback is invaluable so thank you in advance!

Pet Blankets/Comforters/Furniture Protectors

As the title suggests, the idea behind these is that they're multi functional - they can be used to create a comfy spot for your pet to relax in style either at home or on the move.

They work well as furniture protectors too - no more dirty paw prints or shedding fur on your sofa/bed/car seat!

One side is durable linen/cotton blend fabric (with a Free Spirit Designs print of course :)) and the reverse is organic bamboo fleece - soft, absorbent, eco-friendly and said to have antibacterial properties too!

Both the dog and the cat blanket measure 92 x 66cms, here are some pics...

They are both available now from my Etsy shop, website and other outlets priced £38. If they prove popular i intend to offer a wide range of fabric prints but i chose a couple of my favourites to start off with, i hope you like them too!

Squeaky Dog Bone Toy

Regular readers with a good memory may recall i showed you this squeaky dog toy a few months ago...

...i always intended to list it for sale at the same time as the blankets and its taken me this long to catch up with myself!

It is made with the same durable linen/cotton blend as the blankets, with organic white cotton canvas on the reverse side. It is stuffed with sheep's wool, a natural and sustainable product with a comforting smell that happily both dogs and humans enjoy! It comes with a squeak for extra fun (also available without for more determined chewers :)). I gave my doggy one for Christmas and he still regularly gets it out of his toy box for a game!

They are available to buy now from my website, Etsy shop and other outlets priced £8.99. As with the blankets i'm planning to offer these in a range of fabrics in due course.

Other than that i've spent the week getting the house in order and getting to know my new neighbourhood... before i hand you over the the wonderful crafting hotspot that is Handmade Monday, i thought you might like to see some pics i took of some of the locals...

Cool Cats Lavender Pillows And Bookmarks For Handmade Monday

More glorious sunshine this week - yay! And a busy week of making for me. Mostly i've been working on a commission that i can't show you yet though so it will be quite a brief post from me today (and possible quite a long one next week!)

Cool Cats

Whenever i complete a new collection of fabric designs i order sample swatches of all of them from Spoonflower. My cool cats collection is my largest yet so this huge array of feline fabric swatches are currently gracing my crafting table...

Although the main purpose of ordering the swatches is to check the designs work in terms of colour representation, print size etc, i am of course keen to make lovely things from them too.

I've had my thinking cap on and come up with a few ideas of what to create with 8x8 inch swatches recently - things like coasters, mini bunting, lavender pillows, bookmarks have come to mind so far...

I've decided to turn these colourful 'cats in love' swatches into lavender pillows and bookmarks.

 I had hoped to have them all finished this week but due to being pleasantly sidetracked by a lovely commission, i've only completed the blues so far...

Blue Cat Lavender Pillows

They make a cute little set i think - the perfect pressie for a cat lover!

They measure 8x10cms and as with all my lavender pillows are stuffed with a combination of soft British wool and gorgeous dried cotswold lavender. The reverse side is fresh white organic cotton.

If they prove to be popular i will keep them as a permanent fixture in my shops and make them entirely from organic fabric i think.

Blue And White Paw Print Bookmark

Recent visitors to my blog will know that i'm very enthusiastic about making bookmarks at the moment, so no surprise i've been at it again this week!

I've used the white organic cotton canvas again, i love how fresh it looks alongside the bright colours of these fabrics. There are no frayed edges this time, in keeping with the neat, bright, fresh look i'm going for with these designs. I look forward to hearing what you think!

Mystery Plant Time!

Dog Mugs And Cat Fabrics For Handmade Monday

Its all about animals this week... I've got some cute kitties coming up but first i want to tell you about a very special doggy project i've been working on recently.

Hand Painted Mug Commission - Digby Dog

As many of you reading this will know its a real privilege to be asked to make something for a fellow crafter, so i was thrilled when Ann of Tickled Pink Crafts asked me to paint a mug for her (many of you will know of Ann's gorgeous bees and other felted creations as she is a Handmade Monday regular but if you don't, i recommend popping by her blog or facebook page to find out more!)

Ann's request was for the image of her super cute giant schnauzer, Digby, to be hand painted on two mugs. I mocked up a digital image which could easily be adjusted until she was happy with the design...

...before painting it onto the mugs.

Its hard to see from the picture but the ears and snout are slightly textured for a 'harier' look!

Here's the design i did for the back.

I'm really happy with how they turned out and what's more important Ann likes them too!

As a dog lover i know what a treasured member of the family they can be so it was a real pleasure to work on this celebration of a very loved doggy :)  (thank you Ann! x)

Cat Fabrics

From canine to feline... This week i've been working on a collection of cat themed fabrics. My black cat mugs have always been a popular item in my shop so i've had in my mind for a while to create some more cat items. I was also contacted recently by a lovely pet product website interested in stocking some of my items which spurred me on to working on this range (doggies will be next :)).
