'Cosy' Cottage/Scandinavian Style Banner
Lots of projects on the go at the moment and a few more completed - like this 'cosy' banner, perfect for creating the kind of snuggly atmosphere that makes Winter special :) Its made from two of my favourite natural fibres, linen (for the flags) and wool (for the pom-poms)...
... I told you you'd be seeing more pom-poms from me! I think that it would fit just as comfortably in Scandinavian style surroundings (a look i'm loving right now) as it would in a cottage type setting (which i've always loved :)). Its available to buy from my Etsy shop now priced £18.
Peace Dove Christmas Tree Decorations
We're getting into full on Christmassy territory now with these little peace doves... Instead of the usual olive branch i thought i'd allude to their peaceful intentions by using a colourful peace sign fabric for the wings - they are backed with linen for stability and attached with a button to match the eyes and hanging ribbon - pink/purple/blue.
They are made from linen and filled with wool - available as a set of three for £12 from my Etsy shop. I love the splash of colour from the wings against the cream linen, i hope you do too!
Christmas Present Tree Decorations
If you visited my HM post last week you may remember me showing you a sneaky peek of some wrapped pressies. They are, in fact, tree decorations. I recycled some cereal boxes to make the cubes, then wrapped them in pretty papers (readers of Craftseller magazine may be able to guess where i got them from.....!) and finished them off with coloured ribbons (the hanging loop is stitched to the bow for security).
I'm selling them in collections of five, priced £7. So far there is a nature inspired set (pictured above) and this Scandinavian style set (pictured below)
Further collections may follow as i have more pretty paper!
In Other News...
Interviewed
If you're a regular visitor to my blog, you may remember me mentioning that i was interviewed recently by the lovely Sarah of A Cat Like Curiosity for a new series on her blog called 'The Secrets Of Etsy Success'. Well, the feature was published this week! Sarah asked some great questions and i love how it turned out. If you're interested in reading my words of wisdom do take a look! :)
'Lovely Crafty Blogs' Links Page
Last week i updated you with the progress of the links page i've set up on my website for independent designer/makers (the offer still stands if you's like a link to your site added!). From the responses i got i realised that it was about time i set up a bloggers links list here on my blog.
My sidebars are already getting pretty crowded which is part of the reason i don't have a 'blog-roll', however, i've now created a single sidebar link to a blog roll page which seems to fit the bill - it also allows me to add a short description so people have a hint of what to expect from a visit! Many of you will find your blogs listed there - if you're not on there yet, it is more than likely due to a 'lack of time related oversight'... i will be adding more blogs as i realised which i've managed to leave out! (do let me know if you'd like me to change your description).
Handmade Monday
I hope i haven't overwhelmed you with information this week... I seem to have had a lot to share! I really appreciate you taking the time to read this far :) and thank you too for your wonderful comments about my Father Christmas plate last week - they are much appreciated!
Oh, I love the birds - the coloured wings against the white works for me too! The Craftseller papers look great used for tree ornaments (you should send them a pic, they may feature you!) x
ReplyDeletethanks Wendy! :)
Deletei had thought of that... maybe i should! x
I love your little Christmas presents. We always had the mass produced versions as kids, which we'd ruin by trying to open to see what was inside!
ReplyDeletethank you!
Deleteits is so tempting isn't it... i want to open these ones and i already know whats inside! :)
Gosh you have been busy coming up with great makes. I do like the cosy sign. An invitation to sit down and put your feet up with a cuppa and biccy!
ReplyDeletethank you!
Deleteso true, i think cosy is one of my favourite words :) x
I love the doves. It is so subtle and they could be decorations all the year around! The parcels are a bit more restrictive but I like them a lot too. Hope you have another great week.
ReplyDeletethank you!
Deleteyes, its always nice when you can get a bit more use out of things! :)
I love the little Christmas presents. They will look great on a tree.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little, I had to be told that the ones we had were just decorations when I tried to open them :-D
thank you!
Deletei know, i'm still tempted to open them now! x
Wow....you've been really busy....am loving all your Cristmas creations.

of course I meant Christmas... ;) x
DeleteLove you little birdies and the presents ! Thought about something similar last year, when I decorated my own tree with just wrapped parcels - it looked really nice - so I'm sure your will be popular.
ReplyDeletethank you!
Deletethat sounds really lovely, and liberating not to use the same old decorations! :)
I love the birdies and they could be used all year. You are well on to your Christmas makes must get a wriggle on with mine so many to do and so little time. have a good week.
ReplyDeletethank you!
DeleteChristmas is creeping up all of a sudden isn't it! x

ReplyDeletethank you very much!! x
DeleteThe birds are very pretty and I love the presents too! The garland is fabulous, so simple but effective. You are another one who seems to cram so much in - you must have more hours in the day than the rest of us!
ReplyDeletethank you!
Deletemy efficiency is an illusion, i started some of these a while back and just finished off this week!! :)
The peace doves are great, we could do with some more peace for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLove the little pressies too :)
thank you!
Deletevery true :) x
The birds are the best, quirky and very stylish. I'd love a tree without any normal christmas stuff but with three kids I lost that battle a long time ago. A tree covered in your fabric birds would be wonderful.
ReplyDeletethank you! i'm really glad you like the doves :)
Deletei know exactly what you mean, it would be lovely to do it all differently but others are very attached to their traditions (which i understand too)... oh well, maybe the answer is to create a bit of Christmas in your own style too - perhaps another pretty little tree! :)
I love the scandinavian feel to your banner and the birds are really pretty. The mini prezzies are really sweet. I like the wrapping you've used. I'll be checking out your interview, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Have a lovely week.
