Printable Art, Whippets and Elephants

I've been working on something a little bit different this week with a technique made possible by the purchase of a scanner - isn't it amazing how a new piece of equipment can open up a whole new world of possibilities... I look forward to hearing what you think of the results!

Whippet Art Print, "Born To Run"

Having the scanner means i can upload images complete with the colour and texture of the original artwork. I've aways enjoyed painting abstract art so i set to work with my acrylics - using watercolour paper for the blending and texture.

I scanned the paintings and played around with using them to fill drawings i had perviously uploaded like this running whippet.

I really love the effect, it was just as i hoped, so i set about creating a brand new running whippets artwork, titled "Born To Run"

It has now joined to printable artworks section of my Print And Paper shop on Etsy and is available for instant download, priced £4.

Elephant Family Art Print, "Together"

Next i set about creating some new images to work from. I started with hand drawing some elephants; i then scanned them and turned them into silhouette images using a picture editor before 'colouring them in' with more of my scanned abstract art.

The end result was this picture featuring a family of colourful elephants which i've titled "Together".

As with the whippets its priced £4 and is available for instant download from my Etsy shop.

I can imagine it looking cute in any family space like a playroom or kitchen but i'd love to know what you think?!

As always i'm linking up with Handmade Monday today - see you over there :) x

  2. They look great. I couldn't live without my scanner - it saves having to take photos of my cards each time I make one!
