Tiny Flowers Fabric For Handmade Monday

Have all the (UK) Mums had a lovely day? I hope so! We've had glorious sunshine here, the perfect weather for enjoying the loveliness of spring :)

A short post from me today as its been a busy week of customer orders and 'works in progress'... i do have some new fabric designs to share with you though!

Tiny Flowers Fabric

Small floral prints must be some of the most popular types of fabric print out there, and there are lots of them. For this reason i've held off designing any of my own, figuring they would be surplus to requirement.

However, i've recently felt the need for some simple floral craft papers (i'm still thinking about lining envelopes...) and as most of my designs start off as fabric i've decided there is no harm in adding my contribution to the ocean of floral prints available!

I've started off with a tiny print featuring simple flowers with swirly stalks and leaves. Here it is in earthy green (this image represents a 8x8 inch swatch of fabric).

I know its hard to see clearly at this size on a monitor, so here's a close up on one of the flowers.

This design is also available with a deep red background,

and also on yellow with little blue flowers.

With gardening on my mind just now its been fun to work with some more earthy colours and i can see these designs coming in useful for lots of projects, both as fabric and craft paper. I also have lots more floral ideas whizzing around in my brain now so expect to see this collection growing soon!

In Other News...

Regular visitors to my blog may remember my recent 'Birds On A Wire Design' (currently featured as my blog background!) I always intended to have a go at some more colour ways for this design but due to its complexity the task proved a little more time consuming than i'd hoped and somehow slipped down the 'to do' list without ever getting done...

Hooray for customer orders though! This week i had an enquiry on Spoonflower from a lovely lady wishing to order this fabric in red, white and blue - i loved her colour choices and was happy to have finally got around to creating another colour option for this design.

An extra bonus was that it was also featured on Spoonflowers' 'recent trends' list this week! I really love designing fabrics so its very exciting to get this bit of positive feedback :)

If you're interested in my Birds On A Wire fabric, both colour ways are available to buy from my Spoonflower shop.

Now i'm off to enjoy a bit more spring sunshine (otherwise known as weeding the flower beds!) and later on i'll be enjoying my weekly stroll around Handmade Harbour admiring all the crafting delights on show... 'till next time! x

  6. Lovely pretty spring flowers, I'm drawn to the dark red backround, as I prefer rich colours to pastels.
It's great to get orders that make you try new colourways, as its so easy to stick to our own colour palettes.

  13. Thanks again from your Spoonflower customer :-) My swatch has been posted, so I am eagerly watching the mailbox! I'm also thinking I may get some in the heavyweight drill to make a matching bag. Alas my ideas quite often exceed my available sewing time, but I'll see how I go!
