Autumn Cards, Patchwork Hearts And Christmas Stockings For Handmade Monday

Hi all :) its been another busy Autumn/Christmas crossover type week for me - i know after reading the comments on my last post that many fellow crafters out there are in the same boat! To be honest, i think if i was sensible i'd be making Christmas things on the side all year round... what do you think, good idea or not...?

Here we go with this week's makes...

Autumn Notecards

I woke up on a beautiful misty Autumn morning recently to the sight of spiders webs all over the garden sparkling with jewel like drops of dew. I just had to get snapping and this photo of rosy red apples behind a web veil is the image i chose to turn into a notecard - available from my website and Etsy shop now priced £1.85. I love it, i hope you do too!

This photograph of a pretty pink cosmos flower was taken on an Autumn evening with that lovely warm light that you get at this time of year. Its also available now in the usual places priced £1.85.

Lastly on the card front, you may remember that i showed you this design recently with a Happy Halloween message - i just wanted to let you know that this more versatile option is also now available without the message - perfect for use on any occasion!

Personalised Christmas Stockings

Moving into more Christmassy territory now... you may have noticed the picture of my personalised stockings at the top of the page and here they all are individually.

They are completely lined with the fabric that folds over the top and the seams are double stitched to keep contents secure. The name tags are cream linen and can be personalised with your choice of name (in red fabric paint).

I think that their modest size (39x13cms) and simple heart design makes them quite versatile as they would work as well for adults as for children and could be hung up in lots of different places as a cute festive decoration on the run up to Christmas!

They are priced £16.00 and available now from my website, Etsy shop and other outlets.

Patchwork Heart Banner And Lavender Pillow

Finally for this week, i wanted to let you know that a couple of new patchwork items have popped up in my shops this week - this heart garland (priced £16.00),

and this lavender heart (which can be personalised with a short message on the back), priced £12.50.

I made them back in January as part of a collection of romantic patchwork makes (thinking of Valentine's day). However, whilst the other items were listed in my shops straight away, these to went off to photographer Lucy Shires (follow the link to visit her website) who had contacted me about taking some pictures of some of my creations. Like all talented folk though, she is a busy lady, so it was a while before i got them back. Its worked out nicely though as this is just the time of year to get my shops stocked up!

Here's a glimpse of her work...i love the decayed romance of this image, perfect for Autumn.

Speaking of talented folk, its time for my weekly trip around the Handmade Monday blogs.. see you over at the harbour! x

  2. Your blog posts are always so beautiful and inspiring! I love the spider web image (I both love and hate their webs - they are beautiful but not when you walk into one, they like to spin them on my greenhouse door and over a path in my garden!). I also love your patchwork hearts and stockings.

Last year I decided to paint a few plaques every week to put away for the Christmas rush. Have I done it? No, but I have got more organised with painting "backgrounds" to have in stock ready to add an image and personalisation and it has helped a lot in making me more efficient (my OH would be laughing his head off at the thought of me calling myself efficient). But the idea of making all year for Christmas is so sensible - you need to maximise those sales!

Its not nice when you walk through a web is it, especially when it touches your face! :/

  4. More wonderful makes. I love the cards the pictures are lovely. I think you may be right, Christmas crafting all year round would possibly make things easier for many crafters. I was wondering are you doing any different Christmas ornament designs this year? Have a lovely week.

  8. I hate spiders but they redeem themselves with their webs on an Autumn morning.

In an ideal world crafters would be making Christmas things at Easter, Easter things at Christmas, winter things in the summer and summer things in the winter.

However getting motivated to make summer things in the depths of winter doesn't seem that appealing !!!! xx

Hehe, you're so right! It really is hard to get motivated for out of season makes. Maybe i should just work a year ahead... :)

  12. I love the image with the Spider's web - I love looking at them, but like most people don't really like their residents! I love your Christmas stockings, I am planning to make some too, so this has given me yet more inspiration (haven't decided on my design just yet)

  15. I love your spiderweb pictures, I don't mind spiders as long as they don't attempt to crawl over me. I have a tiny one that lives in the corner of the bathroom. I took some pics of spiders today, I may pop them onto a future blog.
Loving all your makes, I'd like to think I'll get organised one of these days but so far nada :)
