Work Space And Website Re-Vamp For Handmade Monday

First off, thank you very very much everyone who took he time to leave comments about my Village House mug and saucer last week. It feels like such a lovely reward for my hard work when others take the time to share their thoughts on my creations :)

I've also had a couple of other bits of positive feedback on my work this week - one of my mugs was featured in the press! (i've blogged about it here), and i got my best ever feedback from a customer :)(which i've posted on my facebook page).

These lovely surprises (as well as the improved weather!) have helped to keep my mood reasonably buoyant while i have been tackling all the little jobs involved in the re-vamp of Free Spirit Designs (which you may remember i mentioned last week).

Much clearing and organising of my work space and materials has occurred...

I have even got my girlie screw driver out and assembled a shelving unit to create some extra storage space in the craft room! (v empowering :))

I have also spent tonnes of time tediously uploading all my product images onto my lovely new website (as well as re-sizing most of them too... all done now thankfully!) I still have lots to do to get it ready, but the other bits are more fun.

I've just started working on the 'about me' page, and i want to include a photo of myself as i think it gives a more friendly impression to customers. I'd love to know what people think about what makes the best kind of shot for this. I was thinking of going for this pic as i look happy and also the background is the countryside which inspires a lot of my work.

However, part of me thinks it would be better to have a picture of me in a creative environment, either in the act of making something or at least with some of my products in the background...  all thoughts welcome!

Due to all my organisational activity this week i haven't achieved much on the creative front although i did have a little spark of inspiration today when i unearthed this little gem amongst some boxes of crafting gear...

I love using stamps and this set has a lovely feel to it. I will try and find some time for some experimenting with them this week and hopefully i'll have some results to share with you next Handmade Monday!

Right now though, i'm off over to Handmade Harbour to find out what my fellow crafters have been up to :)

  1. I think the most important thing is that there *is* a picture of you, whatver the background. However, I do like pics showing people in their cretive spaces and making! I need to get round to this myself but I'm camera-shy! And the studio is a mess!

Congratulations on your glowing feedback- totally well deserved I'm sure.
'Creative' profile pictures are nice, but not essential- I think so long as you look happy, which you do- it's a good picture.
That has to be the girliest screw driver ever!

  5. I love this picture - you look really happy and relaxed. I worry that it may be too forced in a craft environment but that maybe more to do with how good your photographer is. In addition you workspace sounds as if it is all well sorted so now may just be the time.....

  15. It's a great photo and we can really see you - sometimes photos of people crafting are a bit huddled and you can't see their faces. This one is you, and it's lovely. Why not have this one and then one of you with some crafty bits and bobs too?

  21. I have that little stamp set. you will enjoy using it. The letters stamp out really clearly and you don't get any outline from the rubber around the letter either. Have fun. Hugs Mrs A.
